Foreign nationals unable to return home due to COVID-19 restrictions
If you are a visitor to New Zealand, please contact your embassy or consulate for help first.
If you are a foreign national who is unable to return to your home country due to COVID-19 restrictions and are in serious financial hardship, you may be eligible for support through the Foreign Nationals Impacted by COVID-19 Programme ‘Visitor Care Manaaki Manuhiri’, which is administered by Te Tari Taiwhenua, Department of Internal Affairs and delivered by the Red Cross.
TAS can provide support if there is an interruption to your repatriation travel plans, and you have already given up your place of residence.
New Zealand citizens and residents returning to New Zealand
New Zealand's borders are currently closed to almost all travellers to help stop the spread of COVID-19. Arrivals are required to undergo either managed isolation or quarantine for at least 14 days.
Travellers to New Zealand will need to register on the Managed Isolation Allocation System as the first step to securing their place in managed isolation.
The Managed Isolation and Quarantine website has all the information on what you need to do if you're a New Zealand citizen or resident returning to New Zealand.
